Islam in India
India has a long tradition of religious tension between Hindus and Muslims. This is particularly so in the region of Kashmir since India's partition in 1947. Today 15% of the Indian population are muslims. These photographs are a visual record of the muslim communities in Kashmir, Delhi and Varanasi.
